Principal's Message

MEET MRS. WALLS

Mrs. WallsIt is my honor and pleasure to serve as the Interim Principal for the 2018 – 2019 school year.

Here is a little information about me. I am native Los Angeles, California where I completed my formal years in education and still consider my “home.” I married the love of her life Cedric, who is also an educator in Austin Independent School District (ISD) and we are the proud parents of two boys; Cedric Jr. and Mitchell who both attend AISD schools and four foster kids.

I have nearly 20 years of experience as an educator, working primarily in Austin ISD at the secondary level. I began my professional career as a middle school social studies teacher. After leaving the classroom, I became an Assistant Principal. My other administrative experience include, Middle School and High School Summer School Principal, Interim Middle School Principal, Elementary Summer Principal Mentor and Middle School Assistant Principal. Since being at LBJ, I have been an Assistant Principal, Administrator over Twilight, for a brief moment Health Science Career Launch Director and Academy Director.

I am currently in my 7th year as an administrator at LBJ Early College High School. I have been part of the leadership that moved LBJ from a focus campus to the dynamic campus I have the honor of leading today.

I received my BA in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA and my MA in Public Administration with a focus on Education and Social Policy at the Daniel J. Evan School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

I cherish my time with family, traveling, helping others and singing in the church choir. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I can often be heard telling students and colleagues, ‘You can’t control, what you can’t control’ and “It is what, what it is.’ My Why for this work, is I want students like me, inner city, low income, students of color to know what opportunities are available to them beyond high school.

My Top Five Leadership Strengths are:
Strategic- Communication- Activator- Relater- Restorative.
